Dr. William Miller to deliver the Nick Heather Lecture at INEBRIA 2025
INEBRIA is pleased to announce that Dr. William Miller will deliver the annual Nick Heather lecture in San Francisco at INEBRIA 2025 (September 24th-26th). This annual lecture was instituted by INEBRIA in 2013 as an opportunity to highlight advances in understanding the nature of alcohol and other drug problems and how to respond to them.
Dr. Miller is the co-developer of Motivational Interviewing and a distinguished Professor Emeritus of psychology and psychiatry and affiliated with the Center on Alcoholism, Substance Abuse, and Addictions (CASAA) at the University of New Mexico. He has also been a visiting scholar at the Oregon Health & Science University, the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, Stanford University, and the University of Bergen and the Hjellestad Clinic in Norway. He is a recipient of two career achievement awards from the American Psychological Association and has published 65 books and over 400 articles and chapters. Dr. Miller’s research has focused particularly on the treatment and prevention of addictions and more broadly on the psychology of change.
Nick Heather passed away on January 28th, 2025, at the age of 86.
